REMEMBER THE SUMMER

A surreal floral artwork featuring roses, wildflowers, and botanical elements inspired by Southsea Rose Garden in Portsmouth

Remember the Summer is a layered digital piece made from photographs taken at different times and brought together into a single image. I made it in winter, during long grey days when it can feel hard to remember how colourful the world can be. Many of the photographs were taken in Southsea Rose Garden, an almost secret garden nestling out of the wind on the Southsea seafront in Portsmouth. The flowers overlap rather than sit neatly in place, more like memories than a real scene. The work is about holding on to warmth and colour, and the quiet reassurance that they return.
